Meet Adrian Bracy

Meet Adrian Bracy

“Enhancing and inspiring the lives of women and girls” is Adrian Bracy’s personal mission statement—a mantra that propels her work as CEO of YWCA of Metro St. Louis. Prior to her 11 years with YWCA, Adrian worked for the National Football League (NFL) for 18 years in a multitude of capacities—her latest job title was CFO of the Arizona Cardinals. She gained her footing with the Miami Dolphins as a controller, reporting to the company’s CFOs.

When asked how she got her start with the NFL, she responded with a resounding “Networking!” Networking has been key throughout the course of her career, from the NFL to YWCA. Apart from networking, Adrian recommends leaders listen to their coworkers and staff. Especially in uncertain times, listening is a gateway to understanding (and eventually empathizing) with others.

YWCA staff provide essential services to communities, giving safety, stability and security to women and children. That mission makes listening all-the-more crucial. Adrian applauds her staff for stepping up to the plate, when the going got tough this year. March brought with it a unique uncertainty, and her team met the challenges head-on. From March to July, YWCA staff placed more than 50 women – some with children - in stable housing, relieving some of the panic and uncertainty these women felt in their previous unsafe living situations. YWCA has also been able to operate its Head Start program, providing COVID-safe childcare and Pre-K education to our community’s essential workers.

When she’s not at work, Adrian enjoys a relaxing day at the spa. Granted, COVID and work have put that on hold. But, she looks forward to more spa moments in 2021 or thereabouts. Adrian is also guided by her spirituality, treasuring her connection with God.

Additionally, she’s in the midst of writing a book! Stay tuned for more information.
