Meet Donna Calamia

Donna is majority owner and president of Persimmon Woods Golf Club, a private golf club with 360 members that was just named one of the top five private golf courses in Missouri by Golfweek Magazine. She also owns the Donacy Realty Team, a residential real estate company, and RRPSTL, a residential rehab and real estate investment company. Plus, she’s writing a book!

Donna has been an investor in Persimmon Woods since 2004 and became the majority owner in 2016. In part, due to her amazing management team at Persimmon Woods, she is able to spend a good portion of her time at Donacy Realty. She sells homes all over the region but tends to focus on the central corridor. Her time in realty led to buying and flipping homes – her goal is to buy the ugliest house in a great neighborhood. She rehabs and sells about four homes a year.

Her staff tells her that listening and coaching are of greatest import when it comes to supporting team members. Donna has a positive outlook and encourages others, when appropriate, to also filter what they see through a more positive lens.

Few women own golf clubs, so she hopes to create a group specific to female owners around the country. The group would serve as a forum to share experiences, provide support and camaraderie, and learn from others. In fact, building more relationships with strong women is one of Donna’s goals and Forum has helped facilitate that aspiration.

Donna has two daughters in their 20s and describes herself as a foodie. She’s almost done writing a book, “Finding Cameron, a glimpse into the afterlife.” The book is about her nephew who was tragically killed in 2012 by a train. Her story is about the afterlife and her belief that death is not something to be feared, as death is not the end, our loved ones are always close.

Donna’s recommendation:  Insight Timer, a great app for meditating. It’s free and has thousands of meditations. All Trails, another app that will introduce you to hikes in your back yard and beyond.
