How a Facility Can Deliver on a Mission

Stacey Wehe, Managing Principal of Christner Architects, shared the process of transforming an old 1927 warehouse building in Fox Park to the beautiful new headquarters of Rung for Women, an organization led by Leslie Gill. Leslie challenged Stacey to formulate an all women led teams to produce the design for Rung-- a challenge she  adeptly met! They wanted to build a workspace that embodied the aspirations of the organization: welcoming, friendly, and nurturing. They wanted the space to be non-traditional yet acknowledge its past (the building was originally owned by Fox Bros., a custom miller and cabinet maker). They also wanted to connect to the neighborhood itself, a nod to the German craftsmen who originally populated the area, as well as the residents who live there today, some of who are and will become members of Rung.  The results speak for themselves.
