Meet Lori Moore-McMullen

Lori has been the Chief Development Officer for the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, aka The Rep, for over 15 years. The national average tenure in the non-profit sector is 18 months!  But, for Lori her love of art, theatre, and music, paired with an institution and community that fits, has kept her there year after year. Despite the pandemic, Lori and her team exceeded their fundraising goals in May of 2021 for the previous year.

The Rep will have its full season of mainstage productions picking up with “Dreaming Zenzile” an original musical based on the life of Miriam Makeba by Somi Kakoma. The pandemic had led to an abrupt shutdown of the production, a mere few days before opening night. If you are a music lover, and are at all interested in South African history, then this show is for you.

Lori is also an animal lover and sits on the board of CHAMP Assistance Dogs, Inc., an organization that places skilled service dogs with people who have disabilities to help them lead lives of greater independence. They also place facility dogs with professionals who use their dogs’ special skills in healthcare facilities, courts, and children advocacy centers.  In addition, Lori works with Wild Bird Rehabilitation (a well-kept secret that rehabilitates small birds such as Cardinals, Blue Jays, Finches and Woodpeckers).

Sadly, Lori’s beloved husband passed away suddenly at the beginning of the pandemic. At the moment, her family consists of many four-legged friends and a strong faith-based community.

Lori recommends “The Well of Being” by Jean-Pierre Weill, a children’s book for adults about the art of happiness and being present in our daily lives, and going to see “Dreaming Zenzile” at the Rep, of course.
