The Brickline Greenway

Our speakers addressed The Brickline Greenway – a development in the City of St. Louis that is part of the larger build out of Great Rivers Greenway. It will extend from the northside of the City (O’Fallon Park and Fairground Park) south through Grand Center to Tower Grove Park. It will extend east from the Gateway Arch, to west past the new MLS Soccer Stadium, what was Mill Creek Valley (formerly high density and culturally rich African American neighborhood displaced for construction of Highway 40/64) past The Foundry, Cortex and ending at Forest Park.

Shaughnessey Daniels, Civic Engagement Manager for GRG, shared details of the extensive and continuous community engagement process GRG is using to gather resident input regarding what they would like to see developed as part of the Greenway that runs through their neighborhoods. As examples, residents have suggested the need for adding shady areas near bus stops to make waiting cooler and healthier for travelers or making pedestrian street crossings safer at some busy intersections where accidents frequently occur.
